The World’s Oldest Equine Product Manufacturer Sold to Connolly’s RED MILLS
Carr Day and Martin founded in 1765 in London by George Carr has been sold by its current owner the Tangerine Group based in Lytham, Lancashire to Connolly’s RED MILLS based in County Kilkenny, Ireland.
Commenting on the sale David Haythornthwaite Chairman of the group said, ‘We have been very fortunate to be the custodians of this very special company for the last thirteen years. However, due to our rapidly expanding Veterinary business we are unable to give it the love and attention it needs and indeed deserves’.
We have had many suitors over the past few years but none we felt were the right fit for the business. When Red Mills approached us we knew this had great potential and after meeting them this was confirmed. They, like us, are a family business and share the same values when it comes to people and products so we are delighted to have been able to complete this sale’.
Gareth Connolly, Sales & Marketing Director for Connolly’s RED MILLS added: ‘Carr & Day & Martin is a company we have admired for many years, as a fifth generation family business, we value the history, heritage and tradition of such companies and now are delighted to include it as part of our family business. As a recognised global leader in Equine Care with high quality products, Carr Day and Martin is an excellent fit and we look forward to building on the long-standing relationships the company has with its staff, customers and suppliers in the years to come’.
