Our precision nutrition strategy has been uniquely designed by the RED MILLS team, with our scientifically formulated equine nutrition and well-being solutions enhancing the performance and potential of your horse. The 5-stage process includes raw materials, quality assurance, advanced cooking technology, NFMS, and nutritional services.

We carefully select our raw ingredients to formulate the most optimal feed for high-performance horses. At the core of every formulation are the high-grade whole-grain carbohydrates and proteins we utilise, with carbohydrates being a high-energy ingredient that is considered a “fast-release” or “slow-release” source of energy.
Barley, oats, wheat and maize are natural sources of protein that boast favourable amino acid compounds when supplemented with soya bean to ensure enhanced recovery and top performance. Protein plays a number of roles within the body, and is dependent on workload and age.
Natural ingredients
All our raw materials meet our strict specifications for top performance, with our expert agronomists working together with our local and international grain producers and suppliers. Our raw materials are sourced through our contracts with the most reputable global ingredient suppliers, with 40-50% of our products being grown in Ireland. RED MILLS employs some of the most experienced grain growers in the world who produce the most premium quality barley, oats and wheat.

We work hand-in-hand with our contracted suppliers who understand the nature of our products and know that these materials are utilised for our premium equine feed. Our sunflower is imported from France, with our soya bean coming from America, beet pulp from Germany, and lucerne from Holland.
We exercise only the highest standards ranging from processing and shipment to storage and port handling. Our logistics partners share our careful attention to detail, with raw materials undergoing strict quality control and safety processes before entering our mill.

We maintain the strictest quality control procedures at our laboratories on-site when analysing and testing raw ingredients and finished products. All raw materials are thoroughly tested as soon as they enter our laboratory to ensure nutritional standards are met.
Advanced testing for naturally occurring prohibited substances
We utilise the same technology used at the Olympics to test for Naturally Occurring Prohibited Substances (NOPS) across all raw ingredients and finished products. This is how we guarantee nothing but the best in quality when packaging and distributing our feeds to customers. We test product samples to ensure they meet the quality levels, using advanced technological processes that lead up to the final product to guarantee consistent nutritional standards.

Designed by the RED MILLS team, our progest premix technology combines the Connolly’s RED MILLS Pro Balance Vitamin & Mineral package with select ingredients that are manufactured through our advanced processes of steam cooking, extrusion and double pelleting. These leading processes guarantee the optimal absorption of fundamental nutrients along with consistent nutrition required for performance and development during the equine training and breeding process.
Expertly balanced nutrients to ensure key uptake in your horse’s body
Our Pro Balance Vitamin & Mineral package has been scientifically formulated and allows for a tailor-made equine feeding programme. It contains the required vitamins, minerals and electrolytes, all of which are carefully balanced to ensure the highest level of digestibility within your horse. All our blends of vitamins, minerals and electrolytes have undergone extensive research to guarantee they are scientifically balanced for enhanced function and absorption within your horse’s body.
Flexible feeding solutions tailored to your horse’s needs
Feeds can also be combined where required, availing a flexible feeding solution suited to the individual needs of your horse. Specialised diets can be adopted or combined based on protein levels and the carbohydrate type required without the added concern of unbalanced rations.

Our nutritionists conduct a dietary analysis to review the current diet and make sure that it is balanced and suited to your horse’s needs while being cost-effective. Clinical conditions such as ulcers can also be addressed during this stage, with our nutritionists available to assist your horse in overcoming low levels of performance while ensuring it maintains its performance and condition throughout the season.

We offer a complete nutrient analysis of soils and pastures while consulting with our expert agronomists, checking for mineral levels while advising on grassland management and fertiliser regimes.
