The Fifth Treo Eile Christmas Show
The fifth Treo Eile Christmas Show took place yesterday December 11th at Emerald Equestrian Centre, Enfield, Kildare with great success. The annual fundraiser incorporates individual show jumping classes, the Connolly’s RED MILLS “Training Your Thoroughbred” demonstration with Sam Watson and the HRI Treo Eile Team Competition.

The Connolly's RED MILLS "Training Your Thoroughbred"
The Connolly’s RED MILLS “Training Your Thoroughbred” live demonstration was carried out by RED MILLS Ambassador Sam Watson and Nominator. Nominator or “Dukie”, whom Sam rode on the night, began his eventing career in 2023 and has three wins at national level, including the Highest Placed Thoroughbred award at Ballindenisk International after finishing 4th in the CCI3*L. Sam was joined by Evita Thomsen riding Michaels Pick and Grace Day riding Ask Jim, all the pairs showcased wonderful partnerships in their thoroughbreds’ careers.
Following on to the competitions of the day, The Horse Sport Ireland Pony Christmas Cracker was won by Shannon Griffith and Curraghmore Sparrow.
Celebrating the versatility of ex-racehorses and their new careers
The HRI Treo Eile Thoroughbred Classic Competition was the final event of the night. In Round 1, all ten teams of four participants completed an 80-centimeter course. Round 2 was against the clock. For the jump-off round, the jockey of the team completes the first half of the course and the pony rider of the team completes the second half. The results of the combined rounds decide the overall standings. The 2025 HRI Treo Eile Thoroughbred Classic Competition was won by the Randox Team starring Paul Townend, Lucca Stubington, Emily Flavin Redmond & Jane Davis. The Randox Team had only 4 combined faults and completed round 2 in 62.52 seconds, putting them into first place.
It was an all-round excellent evening of entertainment with favorite jockeys, trainers & celebrity riders making an appearance on many teams, including Ian Cassels, Nicola Burns, Mark Walsh & Patrick Mullins.
This unique event is a pleasure and a privilege to be a part of. Celebrating the versatility of ex-racehorses and their new careers is of great importance.
