Unlike other mixes in the Horse Care range, Horse Care Ultra Mix is completely cereal-grain-free. This makes it particularly suitable for horses and ponies requiring an ultra-low starch diet, whilst still benefiting from the palatability of a mix and our additional Care Package.
Both Horse Care Ultra Mix and Horse Care ULTRA Cubes are ultra-low starch feeds (4%) designed to support weight gain in horses and ponies. Both deliver comparable nutritional benefits it’s just that one is a cube and the other a mix.
Horse Care Ultra Mix is suitable for all horses requiring a high-calorie, ultra-low starch feed. It is particularly beneficial for horses that prefer a mix over a cube. or for those prone to bolting a cube.
It is suitable for performance horses and breeding stock requiring an ultra-low starch conditioning feed, as well as horses prone to laminitis, insulin resistance (IR), or equine metabolic syndrome (EMS) that need to gain condition. It is also ideal for horses prone to gastric issues, muscle soreness and those that are easily stressed or temperamental.

As with all the feeds in our Care range Horse Care Ultra Mix contains our unique Care Package. This includes pure, protected yeast and two prebiotics (FOS and MOS) to help support a health hindgut; a natural gastric acid buffer to help support stomach health; elevated levels of biotin for hoof health; a blend of powerful antioxidants including vitamin E, selenium and vitamin C to help support the immune system. Eelectrolytes are also added to support hydration and muscle function, although an specific electrolyte supplement should still be added to the diet after significant sweating.

Feeding recommendations will depend on your horse’s bodyweight, condition and workload. As a general guideline, a 500 kg horse in moderate work may be fed approximately 2–4 kg per day. Always refer to the feeding guidelines on the bag for precise recommendations.
