Fifteenth Year of Partnership between Connolly's RED MILLS and Munster Showjumping
The Connolly’s RED MILLS Munster Grand Prix reached an exciting conclusion with the final leg of the series, marking the fifteenth year of partnership between Connolly’s RED MILLS and Munster Showjumping. Over the years, this league has grown into one of the most competitive and respected circuits on the calendar, consistently showcasing Ireland’s top riders and horses.
This year’s final leg and the overall series were won by Robyn Moran with Cushlas Fryday. Robyn’s achievement is especially noteworthy as she has now secured the league title outright three times and has taken the Young Rider title four times.
In addition, Daisy McNamara and Caspetito Z were crowned the Leading Young Rider of the series for the third consecutive year, highlighting their consistency and outstanding performances throughout the league.
Robyn reflected on her strategy and her horse’s performance
“I knew coming in I had to go for it against the clock, so I just went in to win really. It paid off. The horse jumped great. I couldn’t ask for more. He tried his heart out.”
Robyn also spoke about the importance of Connolly’s RED MILLS support for the series:
“I think it’s very important that we have good sponsors for these classes. It entices a lot of people to bring their horses out, and it’s very rewarding with the good prize money. We need sponsors like Connolly’s RED MILLS supporting us.”
Having competed in the league for nearly a decade, Robyn highlighted how influential the series has been for her and her horses:
“I’ve been jumping it maybe eight years now, and I’d say definitely ten different horses have come through the years. I’ve won the league with two different horses (‘Coolminga Inspector Royal and Cushlas Fryday), and it’s brilliant for the six- and seven-year-olds. They get a good school around the 1.25m before stepping up to the Grand Prix, and that’s very beneficial for young horses.”
She also praised the quality of venues and surfaces:
“They do a great job with the surfaces. Every time we come here it’s very well maintained. It was a great track today, and the horses love jumping off it, it rides really well.”
Connolly’s RED MILLS representative Jane Davis echoed the importance of the partnership and praised both the riders and the league itself
“This is our 15th year partnering with Munster Show Jumping for the RED MILLS Munster Grand Prix, and year after year we’ve been treated to incredible sport. Today was no different. The final is always very competitive, with a great entry, and to see so many
horses make it to the jump-off is a real testament to the standard of competition, the quality of the horses, and the skill of the riders, from young riders to seasoned professionals. It was a fantastic jump-off, and Robyn was a very deserving winner today. She’s had a great season, and that’s a wonderful horse that we’ve been lucky to watch mature and succeed in the Munster Grand Prix over the years.”
She added:
“It’s always a huge team effort between ourselves and Munster Show Jumping, and there’s a real passion behind it. The league creates a platform for riders to produce fantastic horses and prepare them for bigger things. There have been some real superstars to come out of this league, and it’s very rewarding to see. Long may it continue.”
