The Tattersalls Ireland 2019 November NH Sale kicked off on Sunday with a combination of NH yearlings, foals and broodmares selling over a period of 5 days.

The sale began very well for the local Dwan family’s Ballyreddin Stud who ended the yearling session as top consignors with 2 of the top 3 highest prices. This included €100,000 for Lot 50 by Doctor Dino. The already named Ecrin Vert is the highest price for a yearling at this sale since 2007 and was prepped on Horse Care 14 this year.

Ballyreddin’s second lot in the ring, a gelding by young sire Kitkou (Lot 76), sold for €45,000.

One of the star attractions of the week was the Camelot half-brother to Altior bought by former Irish international and Premier League footballer Kevin Doyle for €155,000 on Tuesday afternoon.

In 2019 Altior set a new record for the most consecutive jumps wins after posting a 19th back-to-back success, and 20th overall, in the Grade 1 Celebration Chase at the end-of-season meeting at Sandown in April.

Thursday will see former Cheltenham Festival scorer Limini offered during the broodmare session of the November National Hunt Sale.

The nine-year-old son of High Chaparral was bred by Paddy Behan snr out of the Key Of Luck mare Monte Solaro. The Behan family have been regular nominees for the Connolly’s RED MILLS and The Irish Field Breeder of the year award. In 2017 they were named NH Breeders of the Year.

The eight-year-old was covered by Derby hero Australia in June – coasted to a four and a half-length win in the Grade 2 Dawn Run Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at the 2016 festival for Willie Mullins.
