Showing Ireland and Connolly’s RED MILLS have today launched the RED MILLS Champion of Champions Series.

This year is the 5th running of the series which has gone from strength to strength. Once again riders will be travelling the length and breadth of the country to obtain their qualifying tickets for the three finals: Ridden Hunter Final, Ridden Horse Final and Amateur Final.

The aim of Showing Ireland is to promote the Irish Show Horse, safeguard showing classes and support the shows and show organisers across the country that put on these shows year in, year out.

This year the RED MILLS Champion of Champions series will be worth a total prize fund of over €5,000 combining both cash prizes and prizes from the Connolly’s RED MILLS, Foran Equine and Carr & Day & Martin products ranges.

The series kicks off at Balmoral Show where golden tickets to the final will be awarded to the Champion and Reserve Champion Hunters and Champion 4-year-old. The final will be held at The Wicklow Summer Show in the top-class facilities of Barnadown Equestrian in Gorey, Co. Wexford on the 16th July where the riders will don their hunting attire for the grand finals.

Speaking at the launch Angus McDonnell, Chairman of the Showing Ireland said; Showing Ireland is delighted that RED MILLS have come on board once again to sponsor the Champion of Champions. This all-Ireland competition has become the highlight of the showing world for all show riders both professional and amateurs alike. The Weighted Hunters, Ridden Horses and Amateur sections are all hugely important in their own right and we are really pleased with this collaboration to promote the art of showing.”

Jane Davis, Equine Brand Manager, Connolly’s RED MILLS said; “The RED MILLS Champion of Champions series has shone a light on the sport and support for the qualifiers and the final has continued to grow. Last year’s final was a joy to watch, all three 2022 RED MILLS Champion of Champions went on to win at the Dublin Horse Show including, Gleann Run Da Vinci who was Supreme Hunter Champion at the Dublin Horse Show having been crowned the RED MILLS Hunter Champion of Champions.”

“We are also delighted to bring our sister companies Foran Equine and Carr & Day & Martin to each of the qualifiers where we we’ll have some great prizes on offer. At RED MILLS we put the horse at the centre of everything we do, and the Champion of Champions enables us to showcase how impactful nutrition can be and of course the all-important finishing touches with the Carr & Day & Martin product range, including the grooming kit favorites, Canter Mane & Tail and Dreamcoat, when producing the show horse and optimising performance.”
