The Irish Breeders Classic is set to take place at Barnadown, Gorey, Co. Wexford on Saturday, 5 September 2015. It is the ‘World’s Richest Young Horse Showjumping Competition’ and boasts a whopping €50,000 prize fund. The competition is confined to Irish born five and six year olds with a separate section for four year olds. The main aim of the competition is to boost demand for stock bred by Irish breeders.

This will be the fourth renewal of the Irish Breeders Classic and it is fast becoming a well-respected date on the showjumping calendar worldwide. The class has already produced several horses to hit the headlines none more current than MHS Going Global who is a crucial part of the Irish team this year. Other high profile performers to come from the Classic are Araghbeg Clover who won the gold medal at the World Breeding Championships in 2013 and Ard Ginger Pop who won silver in 2014.

Connolly’s RED MILLS have recently come on board as one of its main sponsors alongside TransferMate, Showjumping Ireland, Goresbridge Horse Sales, Jim Bolger and Horse Sport Ireland to name just a few. The entire prize fund for the Irish Breeders Classic is made up of voluntary contributions from associations and individuals involved in the Irish sport horse industry.

“To have a world renowned brand like Connolly’s RED MILLS support the sport horse industry in this way is very exciting and we really look forward to making this year’s competition a great one together” remarked the Irish Breeders Classic founder, Ronan Rothwell.

“We are very excited to announce our sponsorship of The Irish Breeders Classic. This event whilst only in it’s fourth year is crucial to the Irish horse sport industry in promoting Irish bred horses to a global audience. We are delighted to support this event, which further demonstrates our commitment to the Irish horse sport industry. We look forward to a very successful event next month and would like to wish all participating connections good luck as well as thank them for their valued support” commented Gareth Connolly, Sales and Marketing Director at Connolly’s RED MILLS.

The Classic is a part of an action packed five day show at Barnadown and in previous years the Classic Grand Final took place on Sunday but this year it will run on Saturday as will the Goresbridge Irish Breeders Foal Sale and the Seafield Hotel Donkey Derby. A VIP dining area will be arranged alongside the main arena in the Connolly’s RED MILLS Pavilion and a limited amount of tickets are available to purchase at €45 each on a first come basis. Bookings can be made by contacting Sharon Fitzpatrick 086 8314346 or Heather Dean-Wright 086 1730900. General admission on the day is free of charge and a fun and spectacular day is certain.
