Friday - Shane Breen and Z7 Ipswich win the 5* Grand Prix

The first five-star international Grand Prix of the 2022 season went to Shane Breen and Team Z7’s Z7 Ipswich, after a stunning performance saw him take victory in the €150,000 Longines Grand Prix of the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi.

One of nine combinations to make it into the jump-off, Breen produced a magnificent clear second round when second last to go, stopping the clock in 36.68 seconds to take the lead. It looked as though Swedish World No.4 Henrik von Eckermann and Glamour Girl had taken victory when crossing the line in a faster time (34.45) when last to go, but a late-falling pole saw him drop down to fourth place, leaving Breen victorious.

Saturday - Trevor Breen and Toyger win the 2* Grand Prix

Just 24 hours after his brother Shane Breen won the Longines five-star Grand Prix, Trevor Breen had a brilliant win in the Longines two-star Grand Prix with the 10-year-old Toyger.

One of just two double clear rounds, Trevor finished over half-a-second ahead of runner-up Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzooqi (UAE) with Concordia.

Sunday - Team Ireland Win Sensational Nations Cup in Abu Dhabi

The Irish Show Jumping team of Jack Ryan and RED MILLS Riders Shane Breen, Trevor Breen and David Simpson managed by Michael Blake  claimed a memorable victory in the five-star Longines FEI Nations Cup at Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. It was an outstanding performance that delivered six Irish clear rounds leaving them on a zero score at the finish.

Ireland were pushed all the way by the home team from the United Arab Emirates who finished as runners-up on four faults, while Britain finished third of the seven teams that competed on 17 faults.
