Laura studied Equine Science at the University of Limerick, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in 2009. She then went on to spend two years working with racehorses in Melbourne, Australia.

One of her greatest achievements while there was being given primary responsibility for an eight-year-old stallion Winchester, who went on to run in the 2012 Melbourne Cup.

Laura later returned to Ireland to complete a Masters in Applied Equine Science in the University College Dublin, graduating in 2014. As part of her Masters, she carried out research looking at potential causes of Angular Limb Deformities in foals.

In 2014, Laura joined Connolly’s RED MILLS Technical Support Team in the UK. She has a particular interest in performance nutrition, both in the thoroughbred and sport horse industry.

“Working as an equine nutritionist is a very varied role, with no two days being the same. I get to work with a variety of horses, from racehorses to sport horses and broodmares and foals, and everything else in between! Getting to know customers, their horses and building relationships is one of my favourite parts of my job. Even small issues can have a big impact on a horse’s health and overcoming it can have a dramatic improvement on their wellbeing and performance. It’s a great feeling when customers trust you with their concerns and you’re able to problem solve and be a small part of a team’s success. “
