Pontispool Equine Sports Centre is readying itself for its September horse trials when it will be welcoming spectators for the first time since September 2019.

The event takes place on Saturday 18 to Monday 20 September with Connolly’s RED MILLS its new headline sponsor.
Organiser Richard Mitford-Slade commented: “We are delighted to welcome Connolly’s RED MILLS to Pontispool as our new main sponsor.
“It’s a fitting association as we have fed RED MILLS to the racehorses we train here for many years enjoying some terrific results. The support we have received from the team at Connolly’s RED MMILLS has proved invaluable and we are very much looking forward to our new partnership.”
RED MILLS’ UK Head of Equine Louise Jones added: “We have been working with Pontispool for several years and it’s great to be sponsoring their September horse trials.”
Several changes have been made to the cross country courses in response to feedback received after its May event.
Richard commented: “Our course designer Eric Winter has made tracks that are very encouraging for younger horses that are stepping up to the next grade, and riders that are stepping up too, so that both horses and competitors can enjoy confidence giving rounds that give a positive experience.
“We’ve been very conscious of the feedback we received following our May event and want to ensure that everyone has a thoroughly enjoyable time with confidence giving cross country rounds the order of the day. Our hugely popular 80 and 90 classes will be flowing and encouraging as usual.”
Several new fences have been added to Pontispool’s parkland location which offers a true galloping experience, and it will run in the opposite direction to its spring event.
Trade stands on site for the duration of the three days include, FieldtoFork Catering, a coffee van, Wyvern Equestrian, Storm Tech Clothing, Ecogreen Equestrian, Natural Products for Horses Dogs and Humans, Equireel and a sponsors’ hospitality marquee.
