Celebrating Excellence in Presentation, Tradition and Teamwork on the Road to the Dublin Horse Show

The Dublin Horse Show is proud to announce the launch of the RED MILLS Store Best Turned Out Team competition at this year’s Dublin Horse Show, 5–9 August.

Running across selected classes in Ring 1 and Ring 2, the initiative has been created to recognise the exceptional standards of turnout that are an important part of the Dublin Horse Show tradition.

The competition aims to spotlight the work that happens behind the scenes, from grooming and feeding preparation to rider presentation and the finishing touches that elevate a team from competition-ready to outstanding.

The presence of well-presented grooms is part of what creates the spectacle and sense of occasion associated with the Dublin Horse Show, a tradition that continues to set it apart and make stepping onto the showgrounds a memorable experience for competitors and spectators alike.

How to Enter and What You Can Win

Competitors across selected classes will have the opportunity to be recognised throughout the show schedule. A Best Turned Out Team will be selected each day of the show. Teams can enter by submitting their photo by email to [email protected] by 12pm the day after they compete, and by sharing their photos on social media using the hashtag #BTOTeamDHS.

Each winning team will receive a €500 RED MILLS Store voucher.

Daily winners will then progress to a public online vote, where supporters can select their overall favourite. The team receiving the highest number of public votes will be awarded an additional €1,000 RED MILLS Store voucher.

What Judges Will Be Looking For

Judging will focus on presentation across the entire team.

For riders, attention will be given to traditional turnout including polished boots, gloves, ties and overall presentation.

For horses, judges will consider coat condition and shine, plaits, tails, quarter marks and overall body condition.

For grooms, practical and professional presentation will be encouraged, including appropriate attire and safety standards.
